Schweppe pioneered the first practical process for manufacturing carbonated mineral water on a commercial scale. The brand eventually moved its headquarters to London, England, where it received a royal warrant in 1836 and became the official drink of the Great Exhibition in 1851. Over the centuries, Schweppes expanded its portfolio from tonic water and ginger ale to a wide variety of mixers and flavored sodas.

Today, the ownership of the Schweppes brand is highly fragmented across different global regions due to various historical acquisitions. In the United Kingdom and many parts of Europe, the brand is owned by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners or The Coca-Cola Company. In the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the brand is owned and distributed by Keurig Dr Pepper. In Australia and other specific Asian markets, it is owned by Asahi Group Holdings. This complex ownership structure means that manufacturing occurs locally in dozens of countries worldwide, tailored to regional taste preferences and distribution networks.
