Richmond, a brand with a legacy dating back to 1889, has evolved from a traditional Irish sausage maker into a prominent player in the meat-alternative market. Originally established in the United Kingdom and Ireland, the brand became famous for its 'Nation's Favourite' sausages. In recent years, Richmond has significantly expanded its portfolio to include vegan and vegetarian options, such as these meat-free quarter pounder burgers, to cater to changing consumer diets. The production of these items primarily takes place in the UK.
Ownership of the Richmond brand has changed hands over the decades. It was long a staple of Kerry Group's consumer foods division. However, in 2021, Pilgrim's Pride Corporation, one of the largest poultry and pork producers globally, acquired Kerry Group's Meats and Meals business. As of 2024 and looking toward 2026, the brand is managed under Pilgrim's Food Masters UK, which is a subsidiary of the US-based Pilgrim's Pride, ultimately owned by the Brazilian multinational JBS S.A.
