Hama is a globally recognized German brand that has built a reputation as a leading distributor of accessories specializing in photography, video, audio, computer, and telecommunications. Founded in 1923 by photographer Hanke Martin in Dresden as 'Hamaphot', the company initially focused on laboratory equipment and slide frames. Following the destruction of its original facilities during World War II, the company relocated to Monheim, Bavaria, where it continues to operate its global headquarters today.
While the brand maintains significant high-tech logistics and some quality control operations in Germany, the vast majority of its manufacturing is outsourced to specialized facilities in Asia, particularly China. This global supply chain allows Hama to manage a massive catalog of over 18,000 product lines, ensuring they remain competitive in the fast-paced consumer technology market.
Unlike many electronic brands that have been acquired by international conglomerates, Hama remains a privately held family business. The company is currently managed under the umbrella of Hama Hamaphot Hanke & Thomas GmbH & Co KG. This independent status has allowed the brand to focus on long-term growth and stable distribution networks across Europe and the rest of the world, positioning itself as a one-stop shop for digital accessories.
