Arnott's Salada is an iconic Australian savoury crispbread that has been a staple in households for decades. Originally launched by the Arnott's Biscuits company, which dates back to 1865 in Newcastle, New South Wales, the product is famous for its 'man-sized' square shape and perforated lines that allow it to be easily split into smaller pieces. It remains a deeply embedded part of Australian food culture, often served with butter, yeast spreads, or fresh salad toppings.
The manufacturing of Salada crispbreads continues to take place within Australia, primarily at Arnott's major production facility in Huntingwood, Western Sydney. This local production supports the brand's 'Australian Made' identity, which is a key part of its marketing and consumer appeal. The company prides itself on sourcing a significant portion of its ingredients from Australian farmers.
While the brand is synonymous with Australia, its ownership has transitioned through several multinational hands. After being owned by the American food giant Campbell Soup Company for over two decades, Arnott's was acquired in late 2019 by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), a prominent American global investment firm. Today, The Arnott's Group operates as a portfolio company of KKR, maintaining its headquarters in Sydney while being under American private equity ownership.
