Over the decades, the ownership of Tegel has transitioned through several private equity firms and international conglomerates. In 2018, the brand reached a significant milestone when it was acquired by Bounty Fresh Foods, a major poultry producer based in the Philippines. Despite this international ownership, Tegel remains a cornerstone of the New Zealand food industry, operating large-scale facilities in Auckland, New Plymouth, and Christchurch.

The current owner, Bounty Fresh Group, has integrated Tegel into its broader regional strategy while preserving the brand's Kiwi heritage. This ensures that while the ultimate ownership is Filipino, the production standards and origin of the chicken wings remain rooted in New Zealand agriculture.
