Quorn mycoprotein products

Quorn is a leading brand of meat substitutes that originated in the United Kingdom. It is unique for its use of mycoprotein, a nutritious protein source derived from the fungus Fusarium venenatum. The brand was first developed in the 1960s by Lord Rank of RHM (Rank Hovis McDougall) in response to concerns about future global food shortages, eventually launching its first commercial products in 1985 through a joint venture with Imperial Chemical Industries.

The majority of Quorn's production takes place at its large-scale fermentation facility in Billingham, North Yorkshire, England. Over the years, the brand has grown into a global leader in the meat-free category, offering a wide range of products from mince and pieces to breaded fillets and ready meals.

Ownership of Quorn has transitioned through several private equity firms and food conglomerates, including Premier Foods. In 2015, the brand was acquired by the Philippines-based food and beverage giant Monde Nissin for approximately £550 million. Today, Quorn Foods operates as a key subsidiary of Monde Nissin, helping the parent company expand its footprint in the sustainable protein and health-focused food markets worldwide.
