Superior, often recognized under the full brand name Cerveza Superior, is a historic Mexican lager brand. It was originally launched in 1954 by Cervecería Moctezuma in Orizaba, Veracruz. The brand became iconic in Mexico, particularly known for its association with the "Rubia Superior" advertising campaign. Superior is a light, adjunct-style lager designed for high drinkability in warm climates.
Over the decades, the brand's ownership transitioned through industry consolidations. Cervecería Moctezuma merged with Cervecería Cuauhtémoc to form Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma. In 2010, this parent company was acquired by the Dutch brewing giant Heineken N.V. Today, Superior is part of Heineken's extensive global portfolio. While primarily produced in various breweries across Mexico to serve the domestic and North American markets, the global footprint of its owner means production logistics are managed through Heineken's international network.
