Becherovka Carlsbad Bitter Vintage Edition

Becherovka, originally known as Carlsbad Bitter, is an iconic herbal liqueur with a rich heritage dating back to 1807. It was created in Carlsbad (now Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) by pharmacist Josef Vitus Becher. The drink is famous for its secret recipe, a blend of more than 20 herbs and spices combined with mineral water from the region, originally marketed for its medicinal properties.

Historically, the brand remained within the Becher family until the end of World War II, when the company was nationalized. After the fall of communism, it underwent privatization and was eventually acquired by the French spirits conglomerate Pernod Ricard. In a strategic move to focus on other core brands, Pernod Ricard sold the Becherovka brand and its manufacturing facilities to the Polish spirits group Maspex in late 2023, with the transition completing in early 2024.

Today, Becherovka continues to be produced exclusively in Karlovy Vary, maintaining its historical authenticity. It remains one of the Czech Republic's most famous exports, celebrated for its unique bittersweet flavor profile and distinctive green bottle design.
