Höganäs Keramik is a legendary Swedish pottery brand originating from the coastal town of Höganäs in Skåne. Founded in 1909 as Andersson & Johansson (A&J), the company became world-renowned for its durable salt-glazed stoneware, characterized by its deep brown luster and classic utility shapes, such as the jar seen in the image. These jars were traditionally used for preserving food or storing liquids, often featuring a tap for dispensing.
While the brand underwent various ownership changes throughout the 20th century, it eventually became part of the Finnish Iittala Group in 2002. Since 2007, the brand has been under the ultimate ownership of Fiskars Group. While historical pieces like this one were manufactured in the original Höganäs factory in Sweden, modern production for the brand's contemporary lines has transitioned to other international facilities within the Fiskars network, though the brand maintains its deep-rooted Swedish heritage and design aesthetic.
