Merkal footwear

Merkal (Merkal Calzados) is a leading footwear retailer in Spain, established in the late 1980s. The brand was founded in Barcelona, Spain, and has grown into one of the country's most prominent shoe retail chains, offering a wide variety of brands and styles for all ages.

Historically, Merkal was part of the French Vivarte group. However, in 2017, the brand was acquired by OpCapita, a British private equity firm. The manufacturing of the products sold under Merkal's private labels and third-party brands takes place in multiple countries, including significant production in Spain, as well as in other manufacturing hubs such as Portugal, China, and Vietnam, depending on the specific product line.
