Litehouse began as a family-run restaurant in Hope, Idaho, where Edward Hawkins first shared his homemade blue cheese dressing with patrons in 1949. The popularity of the recipe led the Hawkins family to establish Litehouse Inc. in 1963 to bottle and sell the dressings commercially. Over the decades, the brand has expanded from a local operation into a leading national provider of refrigerated salad dressings, dips, and freeze-dried herbs.

Today, Litehouse remains deeply rooted in its American heritage with primary manufacturing facilities located in Sandpoint, Idaho; Lowell, Michigan; and Hurricane, Utah. A significant milestone in the company's history occurred in 2006 when it transitioned to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), eventually becoming 100% employee-owned by 2014.
