HERE WeGo: Maps & Navigation

HERE WeGo is a prominent mapping and navigation application developed by HERE Technologies. The brand traces its origins back to Navteq in the United States, which was later acquired by Nokia and rebranded as HERE. Today, the software is primarily developed and maintained in the Netherlands and Germany, serving as a major competitor in the global digital mapping space.

In 2015, Nokia sold HERE to a consortium of German automotive companies, including Audi, BMW, and Daimler (Mercedes-Benz). This ownership structure was designed to ensure the automotive industry had access to a high-quality, independent mapping platform. Since then, the ownership group has expanded to include diverse international stakeholders such as Intel, Bosch, Continental, and Tencent, reflecting its critical role in autonomous driving and location-based services.
