Glencadam Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Glencadam is a historic Scotch whisky distillery located in the ancient city of Brechin, Angus, in the Eastern Highlands of Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1825 by George Cooper and is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. It has survived through various ownership changes and periods of closure, maintaining its traditional production methods that result in its signature 'creamy' malt profile.

The production of Glencadam whisky takes place entirely on-site in Brechin, utilizing pure water from the Loch Lee springs. The distillery is notable for its unique still setup, where the lye pipes run upwards at a 15-degree angle rather than downwards, a technical detail that contributes to the delicate and floral character of the spirit. The whisky is matured in high-quality oak casks within their traditional dunnage warehouses.

Today, Glencadam is owned by Angus Dundee Distillers, an independent Scottish family-owned company. Since acquiring the distillery in 2003, the owners have focused on expanding the single malt range and restoring the brand's reputation as a premium Highland malt. The company remains headquartered in the United Kingdom, ensuring that the heritage and craftsmanship of this historic distillery remain locally managed and authentic.
