Polenguinho Fresco processed cheese

Polenguinho is one of Brazil's most iconic dairy snacks, first introduced in 1955. It was created by the company Polenghi, which was founded in 1947 by two Italian brothers who immigrated to Brazil. The product is famous for its practical individual portions and creamy texture, becoming a staple in Brazilian lunchboxes and quick snacks. Over the decades, Polenghi grew into a major dairy powerhouse in South America.

In terms of ownership, Polenghi was acquired by the French dairy giant Groupe Savencia (formerly known as Bongrain) in the early 1970s. As of 2024 and looking toward 2026, the brand remains under the management of Savencia Fromage & Dairy. While the brand has deep Italian and Brazilian roots in its creation and production, its ultimate global strategic direction is led by the French group, which is a world leader in cheese specialties.
