E. Wedel Pralines

E. Wedel is one of Poland's most iconic and storied brands, with a history dating back to 1851 when Karol Wedel founded his first confectionery shop in Warsaw. The brand gained international fame under his son, Emil Wedel, who introduced the signature logo still used today. For generations, Wedel has been synonymous with premium Polish chocolate, most famously known for its Ptasie Mleczko marshmallows.

While the brand is deeply rooted in Polish culture and its main manufacturing facility remains in Warsaw, its ownership history is complex. Following the nationalization of the factory during the communist era, the company was eventually privatized and passed through several multinational owners, including PepsiCo and Cadbury-Schweppes (later Mondelēz International). In 2010, following antitrust regulations, the brand was acquired by Lotte Group.

Today, E. Wedel is owned by Lotte Wedel sp. z o.o., which is a subsidiary of the Lotte Group, a massive South Korean-Japanese multinational conglomerate. Despite the foreign ownership, the brand maintains its traditional recipes and production remains centralized in Poland, preserving its status as a cornerstone of the Polish food industry.
