Hotel Chocolat is a premium British chocolatier known for its deep commitment to cacao agriculture and high-quality confectionery. Founded in 1993 by Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris, the brand gained significant recognition for being one of the few chocolate makers to own its own cacao plantation, the Rabot Estate in Saint Lucia. This vertical integration allows them to maintain strict quality control from bean to bar.

In early 2024, the brand underwent a major shift in ownership when it was acquired by the global confectionery giant Mars, Incorporated. This acquisition was aimed at leveraging Mars' international supply chain and distribution network to expand the Hotel Chocolat brand globally. Despite the change in parent company, the brand continues to emphasize its British heritage and commitment to sustainable cacao sourcing, with much of its manufacturing still taking place in the United Kingdom, specifically at its facility in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
