The brand was founded in 1930 by Julian Barceló, a Spanish entrepreneur who moved to Santo Domingo with a vision to create the world's best rum. Manufacturing takes place exclusively in the Dominican Republic, specifically at the distillery located in San Pedro de Macorís.
