Cheez-It is an iconic American snack brand known for its real-cheese crackers. Originally introduced in 1921 by the Green & Green Company in Dayton, Ohio, the brand became a household name under the ownership of Sunshine Biscuits. Over the decades, through various corporate acquisitions, the brand moved to Keebler and eventually to Kellogg Company.
Today, Cheez-It is managed by Kellanova, the snacking-focused successor company following the corporate split of Kellogg Company in 2023. As of late 2024, Mars, Incorporated announced plans to acquire Kellanova, which is expected to finalize in 2025, bringing Cheez-It under the umbrella of one of the world's largest privately owned food conglomerates. The product remains primarily manufactured within the United States, utilizing domestic facilities to supply the North American market.
