Villacher Beer

Villacher is a historic Austrian beer brand with roots dating back to 1858 in the city of Villach, Carinthia. Known for its traditional brewing techniques and high-quality ingredients, it has become a staple of Austrian beer culture. The brewery has long been a major employer and cultural icon in the southern region of Austria.

In terms of ownership, the brand is part of the Vereinigte Kärntner Brauereien AG. Since 1993, the controlling interest has been held by the Brau Union Österreich AG, which is the largest brewing group in Austria. In 2003, Brau Union was acquired by Heineken N.V., making the Dutch brewing giant the ultimate owner of the Villacher brand. Despite this international ownership, production remains centered in its traditional Austrian facilities to maintain its regional authenticity.
