Saxo Bank financial services

Saxo Bank is a prominent Danish investment bank specializing in online trading and investment. Founded in Copenhagen in 1992 by Lars Seier Christensen, Kim Fournais, and Marc Hauschildt, the firm was originally named Midas Fondsmæglerselskab before rebranding to Saxo Bank in 2001. It was one of the first financial institutions to develop an online trading platform, positioning itself as a leader in fintech long before the term became mainstream.

While the bank was founded and is still headquartered in Denmark, its ownership structure has evolved significantly to reflect the global nature of modern finance. As of recent years, the Chinese multinational conglomerate Geely Financials Denmark A/S (a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group) holds a majority stake in the company. Other significant shareholders include the Finnish financial group Sampo and the bank's original co-founder Kim Fournais. Despite this international ownership, Saxo Bank continues to operate under Danish banking regulations and maintains its core operations in Hellerup, Denmark.
