Luxardo Sangue Morlacco Cherry Liqueur

Luxardo Sangue Morlacco is a renowned cherry liqueur with deep historical roots. Originally founded in 1821 by Girolamo Luxardo in Zara (now Zadar, Croatia), the company was a pioneer in the production of Maraschino. Following the destruction of the original distillery during WWII, the Luxardo family relocated to Torreglia, Italy, in 1947 to rebuild their legacy.

The specific name 'Sangue Morlacco' (Morlacco Blood) was coined by the famous Italian poet Gabriele D'Annunzio in 1919, inspired by its deep red color. Today, the product is still manufactured by the original family-owned company in the Veneto region of Italy. The production process remains traditional, involving the infusion of Marasca cherry juice, which provides its signature intense flavor and dark hue.

Luxardo remains one of the few European spirits companies that is still entirely owned and operated by the founding family, now in its seventh generation. This independence has allowed them to maintain rigorous quality standards and preserve ancestral recipes while distributing their products globally.
