Fundador is a historic Spanish brandy brand, renowned as the first brand to be marketed as 'Brandy de Jerez.' Its roots date back to 1730 with the establishment of the Bodegas Domecq in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia. The specific product shown, Fundador Solera Reserva, is aged using the traditional criaderas and solera system, which ensures a consistent and complex flavor profile through the blending of older and younger distillates.
Over the centuries, the brand's ownership has transitioned through several major liquor conglomerates. Originally a family-owned venture by Pedro Domecq, it was later acquired by Allied Lyons (later Allied Domecq) and then Fortune Brands (Beam Inc.). In 2016, the brand was acquired by the Emperador Group, a major international spirits producer based in the Philippines. Today, Fundador remains a flagship label produced in Spain under the stewardship of the Grupo Emperador Spain subsidiary.
