Clark Baked Beans is a storied Canadian brand with roots dating back to the late 19th century. Originally established by William Clark in Montreal, Quebec, in 1877, the brand became a household name across Canada for its traditional recipes, particularly its maple-style and pork-and-beans varieties.
Manufacturing continues to take place in Canada, primarily at processing facilities in Quebec, ensuring the brand maintains its 'Proudly Canadian' status. The beans are processed using local ingredients, including Canadian maple syrup for the flavored varieties.
In the late 20th century, the brand was acquired by E.D. Smith, which was later purchased by TreeHouse Foods. In 2023, Symington's (a UK-based food producer) finalized the acquisition of several Canadian brands, including Clark, as part of a strategic expansion by its parent company, Newlat Food. Today, the brand remains a staple in the Canadian pantry while being under the corporate umbrella of Newlat Food S.p.A., an international food group based in Italy.
