Madshus skis

Madshus is one of the world's oldest ski manufacturers, with a heritage dating back to 1906. Founded by Martin Madshus in a barn in Vardal, Norway, the brand has remained a pinnacle of Nordic skiing excellence for over a century. The company is renowned for its high-performance cross-country skis, boots, and poles, often incorporating advanced carbon fiber technology and sustainable materials.

While many global sporting brands have moved production to low-cost regions, Madshus maintains its core production facility in Biri, Norway. This factory serves as a hub for innovation and craftsmanship, ensuring that the 'Made in Norway' quality remains a central part of the brand's identity. The Biri facility is responsible for producing their top-tier racing and performance models.

Today, Madshus is part of a larger global portfolio. It was acquired by the American conglomerate K2 Sports in 1988, which itself became part of the Jarden Corporation. Following a series of corporate mergers, the brand is currently owned by Elevate Outdoor Collective (formerly K2-MDV Holdings), which is backed by Kohlberg & Company. Despite the American corporate ownership, Madshus operates with significant autonomy to preserve its Norwegian heritage and specialized engineering standards.
