Yoplait Skyr

Yoplait Skyr is a high-protein dairy product inspired by traditional Icelandic recipes. The brand Yoplait was originally created in France in 1965 by farmers from six regional cooperatives who merged to sell their products nationally under a single name, using the iconic little flower logo.

Today, the ownership structure of Yoplait is a joint venture. Sodiaal, a leading French dairy cooperative, remains the original majority stakeholder for the European operations. In 2021, a strategic reorganization returned the European business (including manufacturing sites in France) back to Sodiaal, while General Mills retains ownership of the brand in North America. Since this specific product is labeled in French and found in a European retail environment, it is produced and managed by the Sodiaal cooperative in France.
