Raventós Codorníu Sparkling Wine

The Raventós Codorníu brand represents one of the oldest and most prestigious names in the world of Spanish wine and Cava. With a history dating back to 1551, the Codorníu family began producing wine in the Penedès region of Catalonia long before it became a household name. In the late 19th century, Josep Raventós Fatjó produced the first bottle of Spanish sparkling wine using the traditional method, effectively founding the Cava industry.

Today, the production is primarily based in Spain, particularly in San Sadurní de Noya, where the historic Codorníu cellars are located. These cellars are considered a masterpiece of Catalan Modernism. As of recent years, while the Raventós family remains involved, the Carlyle Group (a global investment firm based in the USA) became the majority shareholder and ultimate owner.
