Triscuit is a storied American snack brand known for its unique woven wheat texture. The brand was originally created by Henry Perky in 1900 in Niagara Falls, New York, where he leveraged water power from the falls to manufacture the crackers. The name itself is a portmanteau originally intended to mean "Electricity Biscuit" because of the unique electrical baking process used at the time. Over the decades, the brand became a staple of American pantries, eventually joining the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) portfolio.
Today, Triscuit is owned by Mondelez International, which was formed following the spin-off of Kraft Foods' snack business. While the crackers are predominantly manufactured in the United States and Canada using domestic wheat, the brand is distributed globally through Mondelez's extensive logistics network. The ultimate owner, Mondelez International, is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and remains one of the world's largest snack food conglomerates. In the U.S. market, the brand is managed under the Nabisco subsidiary.
