Yorkshire Water is a major water supply and effluent treatment company operating in West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, the East Riding of Yorkshire, and parts of North Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Unlike bottled water brands, this is a regional utility provider that manages the collection, treatment, and distribution of water across the historic county of Yorkshire.

The history of the brand dates back to the Water Act of 1973, which created the Yorkshire Water Authority by merging several local water boards. During the privatization of the UK water industry in 1989, the authority was converted into a public limited company. Today, it operates as a regulated monopoly under the governance of the UK water regulator, Ofwat.

Ownership of Yorkshire Water rests with Kelda Group, which was formerly a listed company on the London Stock Exchange but was taken private by a consortium of international investment funds. This consortium includes long-term infrastructure investors from various nations, representing a globalized ownership structure common in the UK utility sector.
