DBA, originally standing for Den Blå Avis, is Denmark's most prominent classifieds platform. It was founded in 1981 by Karsten Ree as a weekly newspaper printed on distinctive blue paper, revolutionizing how Danes bought and sold used goods. Over the decades, it transitioned from a print-first business to a leading digital marketplace.
In 2008, the brand reached a major milestone when it was acquired by the American e-commerce giant eBay. However, in 2020, as part of a significant global consolidation of classifieds businesses, DBA was sold to Adevinta. Adevinta is a Norwegian-based global specialist in online classifieds, which originally spun off from the media company Schibsted. Today, DBA operates as a core part of Adevinta's portfolio, maintaining its deep-rooted identity in the Danish market while being backed by international expertise and investment.
