Exoderil is a well-known antifungal brand containing naftifine hydrochloride, widely used to treat skin and nail fungal infections. The brand was originally developed by Sandoz, a major pharmaceutical entity with historical roots in Switzerland. While manufacturing of Sandoz products happens globally, Exoderil products for the European market are frequently produced in Austria.
Sandoz was a longtime subsidiary of the Swiss multinational Novartis. However, in October 2023, Sandoz was successfully spun off as an independent, publicly traded company. It is now headquartered in Switzerland as a standalone global leader in generic and biosimilar medicines, no longer under the ultimate ownership of Novartis.
