Caffè Vergnano is one of Italy's oldest and most prestigious coffee roasters, with a history dating back to 1882. The brand was founded by Domenico Vergnano in Chieri, a small town at the foot of the Torino hills. Over more than a century, it has grown from a small apothecary into a global ambassador for Italian espresso culture. The coffee beans used in their espresso are sourced globally but roasted and processed in Italy using traditional slow-roasting methods to maintain the highest quality and aroma.
While the Vergnano family continues to lead the company's daily operations, a significant strategic shift occurred in 2021 when Coca-Cola HBC acquired a 30% stake in the business. This partnership aims to expand the brand's international footprint by leveraging Coca-Cola's massive distribution network while preserving the traditional Italian identity that defines the brand. The ultimate ownership is currently a joint venture structure between the original Vergnano family and Coca-Cola HBC.
