Over the decades, ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major toy companies, including Mattel and a management buyout team. Since 2008, Corgi has been a cornerstone of the Hornby Hobbies portfolio. This acquisition consolidated Corgi's position alongside other historic British brands like Airfix and Scalextric, ensuring its continued presence in the collector market.

While the brand's creative direction, design, and engineering remain rooted in the United Kingdom, production has largely shifted to China to utilize specialized manufacturing facilities for high-precision die-casting.
