Burt's Bees was founded in Maine, USA, in 1984 by Burt Shavitz and Roxanne Quimby. What began as a small business selling beeswax candles at craft fairs quickly evolved into a world-renowned natural personal care brand, particularly famous for its beeswax lip balm.
Today, the brand maintains its headquarters in Durham, North Carolina. While the brand started as an independent natural product pioneer, it was acquired by The Clorox Company in late 2007. Despite the corporate ownership, Burt's Bees continues to focus on natural ingredients and eco-friendly packaging. Most of their personal care products, including their line of toothpastes, are manufactured in the United States, utilizing global ingredients where necessary.
