Prince is a prominent brand of cigarettes with deep roots in Denmark, where it was first introduced in 1957 by Chr. Augustine's Fabrikker. Originally conceived as a filter cigarette to compete with international brands, it quickly became a market leader in Scandinavia, particularly in Denmark and Norway. The brand's identity is historically tied to the Nordic market, featuring a characteristic blend that appealed to local preferences.
Over the decades, ownership of the brand shifted through industry consolidation. After being part of Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni for many years, the Prince brand was acquired by British American Tobacco (BAT) in 2008. While the brand remains iconic in Northern Europe, its manufacturing has transitioned from local Scandinavian factories to BAT's global production network, which includes facilities in various countries such as Poland and Germany to serve the European market. Today, Prince stands as a key regional brand under the umbrella of one of the world's largest multinational tobacco companies.
