Boxholmsost cheese

Boxholmsost is a prestigious Swedish cheese brand with a long tradition of cheese-making excellence that originated in Boxholm in the late 19th century. Historically, it was produced at the local dairy in Boxholm, which became famous for its distinct, high-quality semi-hard cheeses often aged for long periods to develop intense flavors.

In 2011, the brand was acquired by the dairy giant Arla Foods. A significant turning point in the brand's history occurred in 2019 when Arla decided to move the production of Boxholmsost from its traditional home in Boxholm to the larger dairy in Götene. Today, the cheese continues to be produced in Sweden under Arla's management, maintaining its status as a premium household name while operating within a global corporate structure.
