Chicco is one of the most recognizable brands in the world for baby and infant products. Originally founded in Italy in 1958 by Pietro Catelli, the brand was named after his first son, Enrico (nicknamed Chicco). The brand quickly became a leader in the nursery market, expanding its reach across Europe and globally.
The music snail toy, like many of Chicco's interactive products, is designed to stimulate fine motor skills and sensory development in toddlers. While the brand has deep Italian roots and maintains its design and research headquarters in Italy, the actual manufacturing of electronic plastic toys is predominantly conducted in high-efficiency facilities in China to meet global demand. Chicco currently operates as part of the Artsana Group, a massive international conglomerate that remains headquartered in the Lombardy region of Italy. In 2016, Bonomi’s Investindustrial acquired a majority stake in Artsana, providing the capital for further technological expansion and market consolidation for the 2020s and beyond.
