Grolsch Pilsner

Grolsch is one of the oldest and most iconic beer brands in the Netherlands, famously known for its swing-top bottle and distinctive pilsner taste. The brand originated in 1615 in Groenlo, founded by Willem Neerfeldt. Over centuries, it built a reputation for high-quality brewing using two types of hops. In 2004, the primary brewing operations were moved to a state-of-the-art facility in Enschede, where the beer continues to be produced today for both domestic and international markets.

While Grolsch remains deeply rooted in Dutch heritage, its ownership has transitioned through several global beverage giants. In 2008, it was acquired by SABMiller. Following the merger of Anheuser-Busch InBev and SABMiller in 2016, the brand was sold to the Asahi Group Holdings to satisfy competition regulators. Today, Grolsch is a key part of Asahi's premium international portfolio, managed through its European subsidiary.
