Diplomático Rum

Diplomático is a premium rum brand originally crafted in Venezuela. The brand is produced at the Destilerías Unidas S.A. (DUSA) distillery located at the foot of the Andes Mountains in La Miel. The location was chosen for its proximity to sugar cane processing plants and the Terepaima National Park, which provides pure water for production. Diplomático is renowned for its unique distillation methods, utilizing copper pot stills, batch kettles, and column stills to create a diverse range of complex spirits.

In early 2023, the global spirits giant Brown-Forman Corporation completed the acquisition of the Diplomático Rum brand and related assets from Destillers United Group S.L. This move integrated the Venezuelan rum into a portfolio that includes Jack Daniel’s and Woodford Reserve. While the brand is now owned by an American multinational, the production remains tied to its Venezuelan roots, maintaining its Protected Designation of Origin (DOC Ron de Venezuela) status.
