Truecaller application

Truecaller was founded in 2009 in Stockholm, Sweden, by Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam. The application was initially launched on Symbian and Windows Mobile, later expanding to Android and iOS. Its core function is to identify unknown callers and block spam calls and SMS.

While the company has a massive presence in India, serving as its largest market with over 250 million users, the brand’s engineering and corporate identity remain rooted in Northern Europe. The ownership is public, following its listing on the Nasdaq Stockholm exchange in 2021.

As of the 2026 outlook, Truecaller remains an independent public entity headquartered in Stockholm. It continues to focus on privacy-centric features and AI-driven communication tools, maintaining its status as one of the most widely used caller ID applications globally.
