Founded in 1948 by Vittorio Bertazzoni in Guastalla, Italy, Smeg (Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla) remains a family-owned business. It has evolved from a metal enamelling plant into a globally recognised brand for premium household appliances. The company is currently led by the third generation of the Bertazzoni family, maintaining its headquarters in northern Italy where its large appliances are still primarily manufactured.
