Svitzer is a world-leading provider of towage and marine services, originally established in Denmark in 1833 by Emil Zeuthen Svitzer as the Em. Z. Svitzer’s Bjergnings-Enterprise. The company has a historic reputation for salvage operations and has expanded its services to include harbor towage, terminal services, and emergency response across more than 30 countries.

For many decades, Svitzer was a core business unit within the A.P. Moller - Maersk group. However, in early 2024, Maersk announced the demerger of Svitzer to streamline its logistics operations. In April 2024, Svitzer A/S was officially listed as a standalone company on the Nasdaq Copenhagen stock exchange. Today, the company remains headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, and is primarily owned by the A.P. Moller Holding company, which ensures its long-term Danish heritage and global operational reach.
