About Voron Design

Voron Design is an open-source project founded in 2015 by Maks Zolin (known as RCF). Unlike traditional consumer brands, Voron does not manufacture or sell complete printers directly. Instead, it provides high-quality open-source designs, assembly manuals, and software configurations for high-performance CoreXY 3D printers such as the Voron 2.4, Voron Trident, and Voron V0.

Manufacturing and Supply Chain

Because Voron is an open-source movement, manufacturing is decentralized. Components are typically sourced through 'Self-Sourcing' from various international vendors or purchased as 'Kits' from third-party manufacturers such as LDO Motors, Formbot, and FYSETC, primarily located in China. Users also 'Pay It Forward' by 3D printing their own structural parts. This global, community-driven approach makes the manufacturing origin essentially international, though the bulk of specialized hardware manufacturing occurs in China.

Ownership and Community

Voron remains an community-driven project under the stewardship of the Voron Design Core Team. It is not owned by a traditional corporation; rather, it is managed as a set of open-source repositories under the GPLv3 license. This ensures that the technology remains free for anyone to use, modify, and build upon, maintaining a focus on performance and reliability without commercial gatekeeping.
