Voortman Bakery is a renowned confectionery brand that has built a long-standing reputation for its wide variety of cookies and wafers, including sugar-free options. The brand emphasizes the use of real ingredients, such as real chocolate, coconut, and oats, avoiding high-fructose corn syrup and artificial colors or flavors in many of its signature recipes.

The history of the brand dates back to 1951 in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, when it was founded by two Dutch brothers, William and Harry Voortman. The brothers brought their family baking traditions from the Netherlands to North America, opening their first bakery and eventually expanding their distribution across the continent. Their commitment to traditional baking techniques helped Voortman become a household name in the cookie category.

In recent years, the ownership of the brand has transitioned from its original family roots to large-scale corporate management. In 2017, the private equity firm Swander Pace Capital acquired Voortman Cookies. Subsequently, in early 2020, the brand was acquired by Hostess Brands, Inc. for approximately $320 million. Most recently, following a major industry consolidation in late 2023, The J.M. Smucker Company acquired Hostess Brands, making Smucker the ultimate owner and distributor of Voortman products globally.
