Almarai was founded in 1977 by Prince Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Kabeer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as a pioneering effort to modernize the Saudi dairy industry. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest vertically integrated dairy companies in the world, maintaining a massive production infrastructure that spans across the Middle East.
The brand is headquartered in Saudi Arabia and operates some of the world's most advanced dairy farms and processing plants, primarily located in the Al Kharj region. While its core manufacturing and sourcing are concentrated in Saudi Arabia to ensure freshness, it manages a vast distribution network across the GCC and beyond.
Almarai remains a publicly traded company on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul). It is owned by a mix of institutional investors and members of the Saudi royal family via Al-Muhaidib Group and other stakeholders. The brand has expanded its portfolio significantly over decades to include bakery items, juices, poultry, and infant nutrition through various acquisitions and joint ventures.
