Nektar beer is the flagship product of Banjalučka pivara, a historic brewery located in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The brand dates its origins back to 1873, when it was established by Trappist monks at the Mariastern Monastery who introduced professional brewing techniques to the region. The embossed "1873" visible on the glass bottle is a tribute to this long-standing heritage.

Today, Nektar remains the best-selling beer in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is widely exported throughout the Balkans and internationally. The manufacturing takes place at the original site in Banja Luka. While many regional breweries have been absorbed by global conglomerates, Banjalučka pivara has navigated various ownership structures, currently being managed by a London-based investment fund, which maintains the brand's traditional recipes while modernizing its production and distribution reaching markets in Europe and North America.
