Haribo is one of the most iconic confectionery brands globally, best known for inventing the gummy bear. Founded in 1920 by Hans Riegel in Bonn, Germany, the company name is an acronym for Hans Riegel Bonn. The 'Goldbears' product seen here was launched in 1922 and has since become a global staple of the candy industry.

Haribo remains a private, family-owned enterprise. While it started in a small backyard laundry, it now operates 16 production sites across 10 countries. Their manufacturing is decentralized, with large facilities in Germany, Austria, and across Europe, as well as a newer major production site in the United States to serve the North American market. Ownership and management continue to be held by the Riegel family through Haribo Holding GmbH & Co. KG.
