Alpro is a pioneering brand in the plant-based food industry, established in Belgium in 1980. The brand focuses on producing ethical and sustainable alternatives to dairy, utilizing ingredients like soy, almonds, and oats.
Starting as a local Belgian enterprise, Alpro quickly grew into a European market leader. Its ownership has evolved over the decades, transitioning from Vandemoortele to the US-based WhiteWave Foods. In 2017, Alpro became part of the Danone family after Danone acquired WhiteWave. Today, it operates as a cornerstone of Danone's plant-based division, aligning with global health and sustainability trends.
While the brand's heart remains in Belgium with its primary production facility in Wevelgem, Alpro products are manufactured across various European sites, including Issenheim in France and Kettering in the United Kingdom, to meet regional demand efficiently.
