Depon is one of Greece's most recognizable pharmaceutical brands, primarily known for its paracetamol-based pain relief and fever-reducing products. Originally developed as a household name in the Greek market, the brand has maintained a dominant presence in pharmacies across the region for decades.
The brand was originally part of Bristol-Myers Squibb's portfolio in Greece but was later acquired by the French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi. Within Greece, it is historically associated with and distributed by VIAN S.A., a member of the Giannakopoulos Group (Vianex). Manufacturing for these products takes place locally within high-standard pharmaceutical facilities in Greece to ensure rapid supply to the domestic health sector.
As of recent ownership structures, the Depon brand falls under the management of Opella (formerly Sanofi’s Consumer Healthcare business unit), which is the dedicated consumer healthcare branch of the French multinational Sanofi. This ensures that while the brand feels local to Greek consumers, it is backed by international research and global pharmaceutical standards.
