Garofalo is a premier Italian pasta brand closely associated with Gragnano, near Naples, a town renowned for its unique climate and water quality that are ideal for pasta production. Established in 1789, the brand has built a centuries-old reputation for high-quality dry pasta made with 100% durum wheat semolina.
The manufacturing process strictly follows the tradition of Gragnano, bearing the prestigious IGP (Indicazione Geografica Protetta) certification. This ensures that the product is actually made in the local geographic region according to specific traditional standards. Most of their exports are produced and packaged directly in Italy to maintain the integrity of the 'Made in Italy' label.
While the Garofalo family maintained control for centuries, the brand's ownership evolved as it grew into a global player. In 2014, the Spanish multinational Ebro Foods acquired a majority stake (52%) in Pastificio Lucio Garofalo S.p.A. As of 2026, Ebro Foods continues to be the ultimate owner, managing the brand through its extensive global pasta and rice portfolio while preserving the brand's operational roots in Italy.
