Cape Cod Potato Chips originated in 1980 in Hyannis, Massachusetts, founded by Steve Bernard. The brand became famous for its kettle-cooking process, which produces a crunchier texture compared to standard potato chips. Known for the iconic lighthouse logo (modeled after Nauset Light), it was eventually acquired by Snyder's of Hanover in 1999.

Following a series of corporate acquisitions, the brand is currently owned by the Campbell Soup Company, which acquired Snyder's-Lance in 2018. The chips are predominantly manufactured in the United States, including at their famous original site in Hyannis, which has become a popular tourist destination for factory tours. Outside the US, distribution is facilitated through Campbell's international network.
